About you
We are seeking an experienced sales leader with a proven track record in managing and developing sales teams, ideally within the temporary power, equipment hire, or similar industries. You should be a proactive, results-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing sales strategies that deliver business growth.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse sales data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills, with the ability to influence clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on sales activity, leading by example.
  • Experience in preparing and managing tenders and sales proposals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential, as regular travel will be required.

 

About the role
As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a dynamic sales team, driving business growth, and cultivating strong client relationships. Your role will encompass both strategic oversight and hands-on sales, ensuring that your team meets targets and delivers exceptional customer service. You will play a key part in sales planning, team development, and business growth strategies, while maintaining and expanding client relationships across the UK.

In addition to your personal sales targets, you will mentor, coach, and support your team to ensure they reach their full potential, driving performance and fostering a collaborative and high-performance sales environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead, inspire, and manage the sales team, providing clear goals, performance feedback, and personal development plans. Ensure that team members have the tools and support needed to succeed.
  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets. Collaborate with senior management to align sales objectives with the company’s overall goals.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities both within existing client accounts and through targeting new prospective clients across various sectors.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Provide ongoing coaching, training, and development opportunities to the sales team to enhance their skills, product knowledge, and overall performance. Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure continual improvement and growth.
  • Sales Process Management: Working with customer support team to oversee the sales pipeline, ensuring leads are actively managed from initial contact through to deal closure. Ensure CRM and reporting systems are accurately maintained.
  • Team Collaboration: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between the sales, operations, and solutions teams to ensure successful delivery of client projects and solutions.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction, fostering loyalty, and driving repeat business.
  • Proposal & Tender Management: Lead the preparation of high-quality sales proposals and tenders, ensuring alignment with client requirements and timely submission.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Monitor and report on sales performance, providing regular updates to senior management. Use data-driven insights to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Talent Acquisition & Development: Play a key role in recruiting new sales talent as the team builds, ensuring new hires align with the company’s values and have the right skills to succeed.
  • Customer Experience: Enhance the client experience by organising customer events, hospitality, and entertainment, ensuring strong relationships are maintained at all levels.
  • On-call Responsibilities: Provide out-of-hours support on a rotational basis (1 in 4 weeks) to handle urgent client needs.
