Building Tomorrow: MEMS Power Generation Opens New Headquarters

New Beginnings for MEMS Power Generation Headquarters

As MEMS approaches its 50th anniversary, we are thrilled to announce the opening of our new MEMS Power Generation Headquarters in Gillingham, Kent. This significant £6 million investment marks another important milestone in our journey from humble beginnings to becoming a leading provider of temporary power solutions across the UK. Furthermore, this state-of-the-art facility represents our ongoing commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy.

A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence

Founded by Colin Jarvis in 1978, MEMS started as Medway Electrical and Mechanical Services Ltd., a small electrical engineering company. Over the years, we have evolved, expanding from generator installations to managing one of the UK’s largest generator rental fleets.

A Commitment to Sustainability

Our new headquarters is a testament to our dedication to sustainability and innovation. The building incorporates sustainable construction materials, energy-saving initiatives, and significant solar photovoltaic arrays, reducing our environmental impact. With 18 new electric vehicle charging points, we now have over 30, and we are committed to supporting the shift towards greener transportation.

The facility also features a sophisticated water management system to mitigate flooding risks and reduce resource wastage. A vast solar shading system optimises internal thermal conditions, enhancing environmental efficiency and employee well-being.

Supporting Local Growth

The construction of our new headquarters has been a collaborative effort, with over 50 local contractors involved, a key requirement of ours. This project not only supports the local economy but also underscores our commitment to sustainable practices by minimising CO2 emissions through the use of local materials and suppliers.

Glen Jarvis, who began his career at MEMS as an apprentice in 1989 and now leads the company as Managing Director, expressed his pride: “This new headquarters represents our ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. It’s a proud moment for us as we look forward to serving our clients for many more years. This new facility pushes MEMS yet further ahead and truly identifies us as the supplier of choice for temporary power in the UK.”

Looking Ahead

The opening of our new headquarters symbolises a new chapter for MEMS Power Generation. As we settle into this state-of-the-art facility, our focus remains on delivering innovative, sustainable power solutions while supporting local growth and environmental responsibility. We look forward to continuing to serve our clients with excellence and drive advancements in the industry.
