Our client is a well-known commercial estate located in London’s busy financial district, filled with skyscrapers. With over 120 shops, bars, and restaurants across multiple malls, the estate employs more than a hundred thousand people worldwide. When called upon, MEMS, powers the Financial District operations by delivering a reliable temporary power solution.
MEMS was called in to provide critical backup power to the site. The estate had a fault on the HV network and was now running off their own on-site generator. MEMS was required in case their on-site generator failed and was on-site within 3 hours of receiving the initial call.
MEMS provided a full temporary power solution with the use of a 1250kVA three-phase generator. Four engineers installed and commissioned a 75 metre run of cable at height, using cable covers for health and safety reasons.
As feared, during the installation of MEMS equipment, the sites backup generator that was currently in use had failed. Hence, the MEMS backup generator was needed to run as the mains and continued for two months until the repair on the HV network was complete.
The emergency power supplied by MEMS to the site ran 24/7 with no interruption of power, allowing the retailer to remain open and operate as normal. MEMS reliability enabled the retailer to continue to run for two months without a single reactive failure. MEMS took care of the entire project, including round the clock remote monitoring, refuelling and support.
